CPCWHS1001 - Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry​

CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry is the official name for what is sometimes known as the White Card Course. This is due to the name of qualification students receive upon their successful completion, known as the white card or as a general construction induction card.

First Aid Pro is a registered training organisation offering an accredited course white card course which suits anyone’s construction induction training needs. Working with our highly experienced trainers our students are awarded a nationally recognised statement of attainment upon completing this one day course. This qualification proves that our graduates have the required knowledge and skills to work safely in the construction industry, operational construction zones, or on any other site where construction work may occur.

We provide a same day qualification for our students which proves to future employers they possess the relevant knowledge to work on a construction site immediately.

White Card Course Overview

Through this White Card training course you’ll learn everything you need to know about Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) on a construction site. By the end of your day of training you’ll be able equipped with the basic WHS knowledge to perform the following tasks:

  • Identify and report construction hazards
  • Understand hazard and risk control measures
  • Recognise and identify different safety signs and symbols
  • Select the most appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Demonstrate personal awareness of your surroundings
  • Perform risk management duties
  • Understand your duty of care on a construction site including safety legislative requirements.
  • Deliver safety communication to others
  • Enact emergency response procedures

Enrolment & Eligibility​

There are no previous academic requirements or work experience necessary to enrol in our white card training course. However, all students must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be 14 years old or over
  • Present photo ID
  • Possess basic numeracy skills to locate and recognise numbers commonly used in safety signs
  • Be able to communicate effectively by asking questions to clarify instructions and pointing out a construction problem or hazard
  • Possess basic English literacy skills to read and follow simple pictorial safety instructions and simple safety instructions written in English

Before attending the in-person training portion, all students must have completed the pre-course theoretical training component and quiz in their own time. Students will require their own device and internet access in order to complete the pre-course learning.

On the day of their training course, students must allow a photo to be taken of themselves which includes their head, neck, and shoulders.

Delivery Method

This course takes place via in-person training across a single, six (6) hour day. At the end of this day students will have classroom assessment components including written, oral, and practical demonstrations. This day is not uninterrupted and students will receive lunch breaks.

Prior to attending their classroom practical training, students will be sent self-guided, online training consisting of reading materials and a quiz which are to be completed in their own time.

Upon successful completion of this WHS induction course students are awarded their nationally recognised statement of attainment.
