The Royal Commission findings are yet to be published, but it is widely acknowledged that they will be calling for increased First Aid training among care workers, support staff, disability workers and nurses. So to beat the rush, Firstaidpro has launched a series of First Aid courses specifically tailored to the aged care sector. Our First Aid course is endorsed by the ACN – Australian College of Nurses and provides 7 hours of CPD.
HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
This course solely focuses on the CPR aspect of First Aid training. For convenience, it is delivered face to face in your workplace (or at one of our Sydney based training centres if required). The course consists of two hours of practical training with NO online assessment, just a small amount of reading, followed by a quiz afterwards.
âœª HLTAID003 – Provide First Aid
âœª HLTAID002 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (BELS)
âœª HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation course – (CPR)
This streamlined course runs for 6 hours and is delivered face to face in your workplace. It requires no online assessment, just a small amount of reading followed by a quiz afterwards. Upon course completion staff will receive a nationally recognised Certificate of attaintment in HLTAID 003 Provide First Aid and HLTAID002 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (both certificates are valid for 3 years) and HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation course which is valid for 1 year and then a refresher course is needed.
FirstAidPro understands the demands of the Aged Care sector and is pleased to offer flexible training programs designed to reflect the individual needs of each organisation. Assessment only courses are provided for group training on courses HLTAID001 – Provide CPR and HLTAID003- Provide First Aid and delivered within the workplace or classroom. Assessment only courses provide a scenario-based practical assessment only, with any learning and theory testing being completed online before the assessment.

Our specialised First Aid for the Aged Care Sector courses cover a combination of theory and hands-on training providing the skills, knowledge and education to prevent some of the issues highlighted by the Royal Commission findings.
First Aid for the Aged Care sector, encompasses much more than basic First Aid training and is augmented to cover in-depth practical examples of real-life situations found in the aged care environment. Our courses will increase the skill levels within the organisation, ensuring that First Aid training reflects the daily demands and expectations of the job.
In addition to augmenting our First Aid courses, we also offer a manual handling course focused around the needs of aged care workers. Offering flexible delivery we can provide the fully accredited course HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely or can offer refresher courses focused on upgrading skills levels based on situations found in the aged care environment.
Theses courses are provided face to face within the care facility, using the facilities found on site.
